Happy Thursday! I’m excited today because I’m swapping posts with my friend Becca. My article will be published on her blog tomorrow, and if you’d like to be notified when my article about walking by faith goes live, join the email community to get caught up on all The Grace Haus’s happenings each week!
Hey readers! My name is Becca and today I’m doing a guest post for Leah! I’m so excited to be here! Be sure to also check out my blog: https://godsgotthepower.wordpress.com/.
This post is about what it means to be strong and courageous, but what that means in God’s eyes and not the world’s eyes.
Being courageous today in our world and age can be either hard or easy. Nowadays, things do seem easier. We don’t have to just use horses and wagons to get around, we have cars.
Being strong in God’s eyes is something that you should be proud of. It’s a better honor than even being courageous in the world.
How and what makes you courageous in God’s eyes?
Tons of people have been courageous for the Lord, including Lottie Moon, Eric Liddell, Amy Carmichael, Johnesth Goforth, and so many others.
Even though being courageous can mean that you become a missionary and risk your life for Chirst, you don’t have to do that. Being courageous could simply mean sharing love or a Bible verse with a friend or stranger.
Helping evangelize for Jesus is a big thing that God can look lovingly down at you for. In those moments, He says that you’re strong and courageous when you obey Him by His Spirit.
What does being courageous and strong to the world mean?
The world thinks much differently. You can only be strong and courageous to the world if you do something really brave, or if you save someone.
Like doing a thing that risks your life The world considers being a firefighter or police officer a courageous thing.
Saving someone else’s life in our world makes you courageous and strong. Like saving people from getting run over.
With that being said, all the things that the world thinks are courageous and strong are actions that God would do too, so you should try to save someone’s life or do something that risks your life, but God also adds on a few things that He’ll see you as strong and courageous for. Obedience to Him can be scary, but He helps us.
If God sees you being strong and courageous then what will your prize be?
Remember what Ephesians says:
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
– Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV)
“Be careful, do not boast or be prideful,” it’s been said, “Pride will come back to bite you.”
When you get to Heaven are you ready for Jesus to say, “Well done good and faithful servant. You have run your race well,”?
“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
– Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV)
Even when things are hard God will be with you. He will strengthen you.
Deuteronomy also tells us almost the exact same thing.
“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”
– Deuteronomy 31:6 (NKJV)
He will never forsake us. Do not fear; for you have the Lord your God on your side!
What else could you possibly want than for God to tell you, “Well done good and faithful servant,”? That would be much more than enough encouragement for me.
Being strong and courageous in God’s eyes is much more important and honorable than being strong in the world’s eyes. And its reward is eternal.
This is such a great reminder that when God tells us to do something—like be strong and courageous— He always gives us what we need to accomplish it (2 Peter 1:3), and He never leaves us.
What is your go–to Bible verse when you’re feeling like you could use some courage? I’d love to chat with you all in the comments! And lastly, don’t forget to check out her blog God’s Got The Power.
